The "Journal of Iranian haircuts approved by the Ministry of Culture" made its debut in Iran, featuring a selection of styles "inspired by Iranians' complexion, culture and religion, and Islamic law," according to an AFP report Monday.

Short hair styled with gel was approved, but ponytails for men were not.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad opposed a police crackdown last month on immodest attire, but hardline clerics called for action.
