State Control Committee Chairman MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima) sent a letter to Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman, who is chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Legislation requesting to hold further discussion on a bill to shorten the cooling-off period currently required for top security officials to run in the Knesset.

In a discussion on the subject a few weeks ago, a ministerial committee opposed the bill, which has been nicknamed the "Ashkenazi Bill" because of former chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi.
