Milan airport terminal evacuated after shooting

MILAN  — Authorities said a terminal at Milan's Malpensa airpoirt has been evacuated after a shooting.

A spokeswoman for Milan's airport confirmed that Terminal 1 was evacuated midday Monday but could not provide additional details. A police official reached by telephone confirmed a shooting but could not immediately respond to questions.

Italian news agency ANSA, without citing sources, said a police officer reportedly shot a person who allegedly tried to attack the officer with a knife. Sky Italia 24 news channel said the man was a Tunisian who was meeting his wife.
