Ministry opens operations center to aid in public diplomacy

Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein ordered the opening of a special operations center on Thursday in the wake of the IDF's Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip and the media coverage accompanying the offensive.
The center will focus on coordinating public diplomacy efforts by enlisting a reservoir of 25,000 activists who have been trained by the Ministry for public diplomacy and to transmit messages in Israel and around the world.
The center, which is being established in coordination with the National Information Directorate, the Foreign Ministry and the IDF Spokesperson's Office, also plans on turning to the Diaspora community and Jewish organizations around the world to help with the public diplomacy efforts.
Edelstein said of the center: "We have established the special center in order to provide for coordination between the Government and civilian elements. We are here in order to expose the unbearable reality of the residents in the South and the necessity for military action against Hamas and the [other] terrorist organizations. I am certain that alongside us will stand significant force multipliers in the form of tens of thousands of activists in Jewish communities around the world."
