Mitchell reportedly postpones Mideast visit

US Middle East envoy George Mitchell has postponed his visit to the Middle East, various sources reported on Tuesday.

Mitchell was scheduled to land in Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning and thereupon head to a meeting with President Shimon Peres.

The postponement reportedly stemmed from the recent flare-up of tension between the Israeli government and the US administration over the decision to build additional housing units in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo.
