Senior PLO official Nabil Shaath said Wednesday that the Palestinians must strive for the isolation of Israel in the international community, attempt to expel it from the UN and prevent a deepening of Israeli ties with the EU.

Shaath added that in his estimate, the proximity talks have only low chances of success. He called on the PA to monitor and report any Israeli violations to the US daily.

He ended mentioning the Holocaust, saying that it has helped the Jews form ties of strategic importance with world powers.

Shaath spoke in a Ramallah lecture broadcast via conference call to Gaza, and was quoted by the Palestinian news agency 'Maan', Israel Radio reported Wednesday.
