October 25, 2009 12:29

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced during Sunday's cabinet meeting his intention to "initiate a national project to reduce and cancel the global dependence on petroleum." Netanyahu suggested that combining research in energy, water and agriculture "could create changes in energy consumption patterns," providing alternatives to resource-wasting water production schemes. The prime minister stated it was time to rid the world of pollution-inducing dependency on petroleum, adding that oil "finances regimes including those that translate this into terrorism and instability."
