A Palestinian prisoner was found dead in his prison cell on Tuesday. According to reports, he was found lifeless by his cell mate.

A medical team tried to resuscitate him but the man was declared dead at the Soroka University Medical Center. The Israel Prison Service said it will launch an investigation into the cause of death.

The prisoner was a West Bank resident and did not have any known illnesses.

Meanwhile on the Palestinian side, the Minister of Prisoner's Affairs Issa Qaraqe said Israel was responsible for the prisoner's life and has demanded an investigation into the circumstances behind his death.
