Three Palestinians were detained and suffered light injuries after they broke through a police checkpoint and their car overturned near Nablus on Tuesday.

Police fired at the car's tires after it failed to stop at the security checkpoint and nearly ran over an Israeli security officer, police said.

Security forces chased the car, shot out its tires and then detained the occupants, who were injured when it overturned.

The car allegedly contained large quantities of alcohol, and the occupants had long histories of criminal activity, police said.
