Pazner steps down after 12 years at UIA

United Israel Appeal World Chairman Avi Pazner announced on Thursday that he will not submit his candidacy for a fourth term at the Zionist Congress in June. Speaking to the organization's lay leadership, he spoke of his pride in the success achieved, over 12 years in the post, assisted by lay leaders and professional staff, in leading one of the strongest fund-raising organizations in Israel and a major forum of solidarity for the state around the world.
During Pazner's tenure, Keren Hayesod-UIA raised over $8 billion and assisted in financing Jewish Agency programs in the areas of aliya and absorption and advancing disadvantaged communities and periphery towns, through social and educational programs and promoting Jewish Zionist education in the Diaspora.
Pazner, a former ambassador and prime ministerial adviser, plans to open an international consulting firm for political and economic affairs after he steps down.
