President Shimon Peres on Thursday called on all IDF commanders to stop expressing their opinion on the media coverage of the land affair relating to Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant, which subsequently led to the cancellation of his appointment as IDF chief of staff.

Peres explained that it is important to show restraint "for the sake of Israel and the IDF."

"Infighting and bickering between those in the higher echelons of the defense system must come to an end," Peres said. "It is especially important now, with everything around us burning, we must come to our senses," the president continued.
