President Shimon Peres wished Kadima head Shaul Mofaz luck in a meeting at Peres's Jerusalem office on Sunday, Israel Radio reported.

"A great responsibility is on your shoulders," Peres told Mofaz a day ahead of his expected swearing in as opposition leader.

"I'm aware of the enormity of the responsibility, and am touched by your blessings," Mofaz responded, adding that he would put the needs of the country first.
