Police to launch new, non-emergency dispatch line

The police will launch a new dispatch line - 110 - to deal with non-emergencies queries for police, the National Police headquarters announced on Sunday.

The decision to found the new line was made three months ago, police said, adding that the call centers will be run by career officers and not by teenagers performing their national service in the police.

The new line will go into operation in 2015 police said.

The news comes as police have for the past two weeks dealt with a storm of public criticism following news that one of the three boys kidnapped in the West Bank over two weeks ago called the 100 police emergency line and said he was being kidnapped, a call that was not given the proper attention. Police only notified security services five hours later, after one of the boy's fathers reported him missing.

Almost two weeks ago, National Police Commissioner Yochanan Danino announced that he had appointed a seven man team to probe the handling of the call from the kidnapped teen and that the team will release its findings in the coming days.
