Police uncover illegal chemicals in 17 kiosks in Haifa area

Some 80 packages of "suspicious materials" such as drugs or illegal chemicals were found in 17 different kiosks on Saturday night by police after they conducted a surprise inspection, police reported.

The packages were found hidden in crates containing snack foods such as bamba, and in boxes of toys containing products for the cartoon show character Sponge Bob.

The kiosks were mostly located along the northern coast in areas surrounding Haifa and Acre.

Police said the investigation would continue during the next few days.
