Prosor to UN: Calm 'shattered' by rocket fire

UNITED NATIONS - Israel's ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor sent an urgent letter to the Secretary-General today, calling on the Security Council to issue a swift condemnation of renewed rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel.
A single rocket hit Ashkelon late last night, hitting a road and causing no injuries. The rocket launch was the first in three months since the end of Operation Pillar of Defense and comes as protests are rocking the West Bank after a Palestinian died in Israeli custody.
"The fragile calm that has prevailed over the past three months has been shattered," Prosor wrote. "Israel holds Hamas fully responsible for any attack that emanates from areas under its control."
