UN diplomats from France and Britain hinted on Thursday that their countries will abstain from a UN Security Council vote on the Palestinians Authority's bid for statehood, according to CNN.

A Security Council diplomat told CNN that France informed members of the Security Council about its intentions at a meeting of the admissions committee for new UN membership.

Britain will also abstain, with one of its representatives likewise announcing its intentions at the same closed-door meeting, another UN diplomat told CNN.
