US defense: No evidence Pakistan knew bin Laden there

WASHINGTON - Top US defense officials on Wednesday said they had no evidence that senior Pakistani leaders knew that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan, and in fact had seen information to the contrary.
"I've seen no evidence since the bin Laden raid that indicates that the top leadership knew bin Laden was there," Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen told reporters. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he had in fact seen evidence to the contrary.
