Wikileaks: Eritrean leader claimed US had plans to kill him

A cable released by Wikileaks on Wednesday shows that Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki feared the United States would try to kill him by shooting a missile into his home, reported Reuters on Saturday.
In the cable, former US ambassador Ronald McMullen says that Isaias also thought Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi tried to have him murdered 14 years ago.
"Isaias thinks the United States will attempt to kill him by missile strike on his residence in the city of Massawa," the cable quoted a UN official, according to Reuters.
An Ethiopian government spokesman Shimeles Kemal dismissed the claim that Meles tried to have Isaias killed.
