Interior Minister Eli Yishai said on Thursday night that the government's general direction is heading towards calling early elections.

"If the budget will be cruel and difficult, we will be unable to support it," Israel Radio reported Yishai as saying.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu plans to meet Thursday with Habayit Hayehudi’s incumbent leader, Science and Technology Minister Daniel Herschkowitz, to discuss the state budget and the possibility of early elections.
