Presidents Obama and Peres give speeches at White House ceremony attended by former presidents, other dignitaries.

President Shimon Peres took part in a ceremony at the White House Thursday morning (Israel time), in which he was to be presented by his US counterpart President Barack Obama with the country's highest honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.Attending the White House ceremony were 140 guests of the US and Israeli governments, including President Peres's family. Among the dignitaries scheduled to attend were former US presidents, secretaries of state, prime ministers and other government officials. Diplomats and other distinguished guests from various walks of life were also expected to partake in the ceremony.Both presidents were scheduled to give speeches at the ceremony.
