Moroccan diplomats withdrawn from Netherlands over suspected espionage

Morocco withdrew two diplomats from the Netherlands amid allegations that a senior Rotterdam police officer was spying for the North African country, the Dutch Foreign Minister said on Thursday. Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen told Parliament he was treating very seriously claims that the policeman was passing information to the Moroccan secret service. The Rotterdam police officer at the center of the diplomatic spat was fired and was under investigation for possible espionage. Morocco pulled two diplomats out of its Hague embassy after the Dutch government complained about the alleged espionage, Verhagen told Parliament on Thursday. No one was available for comment at the Moroccan embassy.
