Prison guards and officials arrested on bribery charges

It is suspected that a prison official used his authority to give prisoners special privileges in exchange for money.

Two suspects were arrested and three others detained Monday morning as part of an investigation into corruption among Israel Prison Service officials.
The suspects have been accused of bribery, fraud, breach of trust and other offenses. It is suspected that a prison official used his authority to give prisoners special privileges in exchange for money.
The Lahav 433 unit carried out an investigation after receiving information about the matter.The suspects are all from the Eilat area.
In response to the allegations the Israel Prison Service released a statement saying , "the Israel Prison Service carries out ongoing activity to maintain the integrity of those in its service. The investigation is being conducted in close cooperation with the Israel Police and is based on information obtained from IPS intelligence."
