The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has arrested four Palestinians from the Kalkilya area who were allegedly behind the 2006 murder of Dr. Daniel Yakobi from the settlement of Yakir. Yakobi's body was found in a burnt-out car on July 27, 2006 near Kalkilya. Together with the Border Police, the Shin Bet arrested the four Palestinians in April and May. The Palestinians confessed to murdering Yakobi to avenge the death of an Islamic Jihad commander who was killed a day earlier. Yakobi was murdered after he brought his car to a garage which belonged to the brother of one of the suspects. He was beaten with a stick and a screwdriver. The suspects allegedly then put Yakobi's body in his car and set it on fire.
