"Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is making a big mistake by setting conditions for the release of Gilad Shalit," Vice Premier Shimon Peres said on Monday morning. Peres was reacting to the PA chairman's announcement on Sunday that as part of any deal for the release of the kidnapped IDF soldier the PA would demand that Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Sa'adat, who planned the murder of former minister Rehavam Ze'evi, be released. The vice premier told Army Radio that Abbas's problem "was with Hamas, not with Israel."
