Barak calls on gov't members to display responsibility, restraint

Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Sunday called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to restrain certain politicians, and bring them to act responsibly. Speaking before the cabinet meeting, Barak said, "It's impossible to accept the situation in Gaza. I have instructed the IDF and security forces to make the necessary and appropriate preparations." He said that the main motivation was that any operation in the Strip be successful. "We're listening to, and hurting with the area's residents, who are put to an excruciating test on a daily basis, but some of the tempestuous voices here [in the government] are superfluous, marring both the endurance as well as the ability to execute what is necessary when the time is right," he added.
