Former Sayeret Matkal commander running with Kadima

Doron Avital, who headed the IDF's elite Sayeret Matkal unit when it captured Sheikh Mustafa Dirani in Lebanon, informed Kadima leader Tzipi Livni on Wednesday that he would seek a Knesset seat with the party.
Avital, who holds a doctorate in logic and philosophy from Columbia University, headed a hi-tech management school at Tel Aviv University and
now runs a venture capital firm.
Livni said she was glad that Avital decided to contribute his experience to serve the party and the public.
