Gov't won't meet deadline for providing promised money to survivors

The government will not meet the deadline set for the transfer of funds to Holocaust victims who survived the ghettos and Nazi concentration camps, because the Knesset has not completed legislation on the issue, Army Radio reported Sunday. The government had previously pledged to provide the money by the beginning of 2008. The Welfare and Social Services Ministry said in response that it had made every effort to provide the money in time but the funds had not yet been provided by the treasury.
