An Israeli backpacker went missing in Peru after falling into the water during a rafting trip on one of the tributaries of the Amazon in the country's southeast. His family was informed.
The backpacker's friends notified the Israeli Embassy in Lima and a representative made his way to the site of the accident.
According to some reports, the embassy was only notified of the event some time after the fact and it was not immediately clear when the accident happened.
Local search parties, as well as the police and army were trying to locate the missing man.
