Two pilots ejected safely from their F-16 fighter jet as it was speeding down the runway in a base in southern Israel on Wednesday night.
As the plane began to take off, one of the wheels exploded. Due to the weight from the large amount of weaponry on deck, the pilots could not stop the aircraft and were forced to abandon it.
Air force commander Maj.-Gen. Elazar Shkedy ordered an investigation into the technical failure.
