The murder trial of 4-year-old Rose Pizem was postponed on Sunday, when Ronnie Ron and Marie Pizem's attorneys said they had not received all of the necessary materials from the investigation. The Petah Tikva District Court decided to postpone the trial until the beginning of January.
Ron and Pizem are both suspected of involvement in the murder of 4-year-old Rose Pizem.
Also Sunday, the suspects' remand was extended until the end of the month.
Pizem has repeatedly denied any knowledge of her daughter's fate prior to being informed by police, and Ron confessed to police that he had struck Rose because she was bothering him while he was driving. The blow had killed her, but that hadn't been his intention, he maintained.
Law enforcement authorities had hoped that an autopsy on Rose's body would reveal the exact cause of death, but it did not.
The indictment was vague regarding both how Rose died and the role played by Marie Pizem in the events, and does not include the version of events given by Ron in his confession.
"The accused, or one of them, stuffed Rose into the suitcase after her death or while she was still alive," the indictment states. "Afterwards, Ronnie took the suitcase with Rose or her body inside and threw it into the Yarkon River in Tel Aviv. By the acts described above, the accused [plural in Hebrew] premeditatedly caused Rose's death."
