Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has criticized the Hamas leadership for bringing destruction to Gaza. At a press conference Tuesday, Abbas blamed Hamas for violating a six-month cease-fire with Israel. He said they provoked the massive Israeli response that killed nearly 1,300 people in Gaza, including hundreds of civilians. Abbas said Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal could be taken to court in another country for "drawing his people to this destruction." He said he had warned Hamas against violating the truce "but they didn't listen."
