Jordan: Police foil al-Qaida terror plot, detain 3

Jordanian police have foiled a planned suicide bombing by al-Qaida in this Arab kingdom and arrested two Iraqi militants and a Libyan, Jordanian officials said Wednesday.
Jordanian government spokesman Nasser Judeh said the militants planned to attack a "vital civilian facility" in Amman but declined to further describe the target.
Judeh told The Associated Press that police made the arrests after recently obtaining certain "intelligence." He declined to provide further details.
"Our security forces succeeded in foiling a terrorist plot organized by the al-Qaida terrorist group involving people of Iraqi, Libyan and Saudi nationality," an unidentified security official told the state-run Petra news agency.
Police are hunting several other terrorists, including a Saudi Arabian and three Iraqis, the official said.
State-run TV showed photographs of three men described as the two detained Iraqi nationals and a Libyan who were detained in Jordan on an unspecified date.
