Israel coach suspends Bolton defender Ben Haim from national squad

Bolton Wanderers defender Tal Ben Haim has been suspended from Israel's national team after refusing to take part in a training session in Slovenia, the Israeli team spokesman said Sunday. Coach Dror Kashtan ordered Ben Haim back to England after he refused to train on Saturday "despite the fact that the team doctor declared he was fit," Shaul Aizenberg said in a statement. The 24-year-old central defender has 22 international appearances for Israel. Israel plays Slovenia in Ljubljana on Tuesday in the team's last friendly before the start of 2008 European Championship qualifying. Israel will play in Group 5 with England, Croatia, Russia, Macedonia, Estonia and Andorra.
