Ironi Nahariya claimed its first home victory of the BSL season on Monday, defeating Hapoel Galil Elyon/Gilboa 90-73 at Ein Sara. Nahariya had lost all three of its home encounters prior to Monday getting the season off to a disappointing start, losing five of its last six games. However everything went Ironi's way against Galil, allowing Nahariya's under-fire coach Ya'acov Jino to breathe a huge sigh of relief after a difficult period. "I'm very pleased with the victory. We were getting frustrated in recent weeks, but now finally we have managed to win at home," Jino said. Aaron McGhee scored 20 points and pulled nine rebounds for Nahariya, with Ron Lewis contributing 20 points and Yogev Ohayon adding 10 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Brian Randle scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Galil, which lost its second straight game after winning its previous five. "Nahariya deserved to win. They were much more aggressive than us," Galil coach Oded Katash said. Galil opened the game with an 8-0 run, but the hosts scored 17 of the next 20 points and led 17-11 after a Lewis dunk. Nahariya took a six-point margin into the second period (22-16), and despite allowing Galil to tie the score at 29-29, opened a comfortable cushion by the break. Hapoel was held to just five points in the final five minutes of the first half and a McGhee basket gave Ironi a 46-34 halftime lead. Nahariya remained in complete control in the second half, never allowing the gap to drop to less than eight points, and finally cruised to a home victory.
