After a single season abroad, Dan Shamir will be back coaching in the BSL next season after signing a three-year contract to guide Bnei Hasharon on Thursday. The 34-year-old was David Blatt's assistant at Dynamo Moscow last season, leaving to coach in Russia following two years at Hapoel Jerusalem during which he led the team to back-to-back State Cup triumphs. Bnei Hasharon failed to reach the Final Four last season under the guidance of Ariel Beit-Halachmi, losing in the playoff quarterfinals to Maccabi Haifa. "It's a great honor for me to coach Bnei Hasharon," Shamir said. "I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead and I hope we can play good basketball and compete at the top of the BSL." Club chairman, Eldad Akunis, was delighted to have secured Shamir's signature. "I'm very happy we have managed to bring Shamir to the team," Akunis said. "He's one of the best coaches in the country and I believe he's the right coach to guide us to successes in the coming years."
