Cases of measles in the past few years have tripled in Germany, with almost 1000 cases and one child dying in 2017 alone.
The lawsuit, filed by fifty-five families, is attempting to seek class-action status, claiming the law is "unconstitutional and violates religious freedom."
The first dose of the MMR vaccine is normally administered to children around the age of one and the second dose between the ages of four and six.
"They have to get their shots," Trump told reporters at the White House.
More than half the cases recorded this year occurred in New York City, primarily in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn.
A flight attendant, 43, was hospitalized earlier this month with the measles.
