US President Donald Trump said that "nobody is happy" at the launches, but appeared to hold the door open for more talks with North Korea.
"Our military capabilities are part of legitimate defense powers of the state, and guarantee the national security of the Islamic Republic, which is based on deterrence."
Tehran insists its missile program is purely defensive but has threatened to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf, if Washington tries to strangle its exports.
The projectile landed in this country's exclusive economic zone, within 200 nautical miles of its coast.
