According to Health Ministry statistics, there are some 84,000 female and male nurses in Israel up to the age of 67, with the ratio of only 6.7 nurses to 1,000 people.
36% of the nurses plan to continue working in the sector but may change workplaces.
“I don't feel like a hero. I did what I had to do. Fortunately, I had the right knowledge, and I was in the right place at the right time," responding nurse Amer Awad said.
The proportion of male and female doctors, nurses and dentists in Israel has increased in recent years after a decrease in the previous decade.
