The memorial is not the first Holocaust-related site to be defaced. Since Israel-Hamas war, there has been widespread graffiti amid pro-Palestinian protests.
The Cleveland Jewish Federation called the vandalism "absolutely sickening."
The memorial focuses on the dangerous efforts made by ordinary Danish citizens who risked their own lives to save Jews during the Nazi occupation of the country.
One of the organizers of the protest published a post about event with the text: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!"
Police have not stated if they believed the two incidents were linked but have asked anyone with information to contact them.
The World Jewish Center in Armenia was vandalized. The attackers left a note saying "the Jews are the enemies of the Armenian nation."
“The vandalism has caused understandable shock and anger throughout the local community and beyond,” a statement from Northumbria Police said.
