An explosive balloon was discovered in the courtyard of a kindergarten in the Eshkol Regional Council, near the Gaza Strip. The suspicious object was discovered by the kindergarten teacher, who moved the children to a safe location and informed the community security officer.
The object was removed by security personnel.
"The residents of Eshkol and the Gaza border region are demonstrating incredible responsibility," said Gadi Yarkoni, head of the Eshkol Regional Council. "Our residents are conscientious and attentive to the protocols, and know how to identify the incendiary devices that land in our community and to act correctly to save lives."
"I expect that the government of Israel will demonstrate the same sense of responsibility to its citizens and to put an end to the ongoing terror in order to ensure the security of the residents," Yarkoni said.
"The writing is on the wall," he added. "The responsibility is theirs."

In a second incident Thursday, an incendiary balloon landed on an automobile belonging to the security officer of the Sdot Hanegev Regional Council. The car was entirely consumed by the flames.
