In a speech from Washington Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move its embassy there, in a reversal from predecessors' longstanding policy on the holy city's status. Since then, Israeli leaders of most political stripes have praised Trump's decision, and the Czech Republic followed the president's lead by announcing it recognizes west Jerusalem as Israel's capital. But mostly, reaction to Trump's upending of decades-long diplomatic consensus has drawn sharp criticism and protest — specifically among Muslim populations. Below are some of the photos captured throughout Wednesday.
