Israeli-Arab rapper fools the web with fake IDF chase photo

Tamer Nafar of hip-hop group DAM waited 24 hours before revealing that his photo was staged.

An Israeli-Arab rapper fooled the internet with a selfie he claimed was of IDF soldiers chasing him.
Tamer Nafar, of the rap group DAM, posted the picture on Monday afternoon to his Twitter account, writing "A selfie while the Israeli military running after me." In reality, the people chasing Nafar in the picture were actors dressed in Border Police uniforms.
However, that was a minor detail to users on Twitter and Facebook, as the photo went wild across the web. The tweet garnered almost 18,000 retweets and was favorited over 9,000 times.

It wasn't until a day later that Nafar revealed the true nature of the photo, writing "And CUT.... A pic from a film set that's based on a true story! #Thelastverse." His clarification post was much less popular.

Though some users pointed out details in the officer's uniform that clearly showed it was fake, the majority of users continued to mistake the photo for the real thing.
