In honor of Tel Aviv's upcoming centenary celebrations, the Tel Aviv Municipality and the Bikurei Ha'itim dance center have announced the birth of the wholly professional Tel Aviv Dance Company (TADC) and junior Ensemble that will have its gala premiere and launch at Suzanne Dellal on July 30. TADC has arisen from DeDe Dance, the young company that last year won the Culture Minister's Prize for young artists, led by dancer/choreographers Amit Goldenberg and Ya'ara Dolev. They will head TADC and the Ensemble. There will also be an affiliated dance school to be headed by Naomi Perlov. The genesis of TADC was inspired partially by the closure of the Bat Dor dance company and its school, and by the need for a repertoire dance company in the city. The gala will feature a collage of performances from three works, including De De, which was first shown at the 2007 Israel Festival. Funding will come from the municipality, the Arts and Culture Administration and its own earned income from dance concerts and other performances at schools and community centers throughout the country.
