From Seattle grunge prototypes Mudhoney and European progressive rock veterans Gong to homegrown heroes like Rita and Mati Caspi, the upcoming Tel Aviv Music Festival (October 20-31) will provide a plethora of musical avenues and venues to choose from.
Mudhoney, the Nirvana-era rockers, will be playing at the Barby club on October 26, and Gong's shows will be at the Zappa club on October 30 and 31. Another international act appearing at the festival will be the Easy Star All Stars, who have earned a reputation for performing dub and reggae versions of rock classics by Radiohead and The Beatles. They'll be offering their rendition of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon on October 20 at the Barby.
Other highlights include a tribute to the music of Hava Alberstein by over 15 alternative artists on October 20 at Tzavta, Ivri Lider in an 'unplugged' performance on October 21 at Tzavta, Rita with Knessiat Hasechel on October 23 at Habima Theater, and Mati Caspi in a special show, on the 25th anniversary of his album Mattityahu and Alexander, on the 23rd at Tzavta.
