The next slot in this year’s Giant Steps jazz series at Tel Aviv’s Opera House, which will take place on Friday (March 19) at 10 p.m., highlights the work of late longserving drummer Art Blakey. The tribute will be performed by the One For All sextet, which includes Jim Rotondi (trumpet), Eric Alexander (saxophone), pianist David Hazeltine (piano), John Webber (double bass), Joe Farnsworth (drums) and Steve Davis (trombone).

Friday’s concert will feature several numbers made famous by The JazzMessengers, including “One by One,” written by veteran reedman WayneShorter, a member of the The Jazz Messengers in the late 1950s andearly 1960s, “Whisper Not” and “Moanin’.”
