They've been around for six years, and now www.pandora.com is making a splash on the email circuit in Israel. The self described "group of musicians and music-loving technologists" came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever. The Web site, which is based in California, helps surfers compile personal radio stations. Pandora staff assembled hundreds of musical attributes, which they called "genes," into "a very large Music Genome". Pick one song and the Web site will find other melodies, harmonies, rhythms, lyrics, and arrangements similar to your pick. For example, if you're a Natalie Merchant fan, you'll find Merchant as well as The LadyBug Transistor, Carole King, and 100 Watt Smile in your radio rotation. Israeli artists, save for Useless ID, haven't quite cracked the Pandora staff's list. However, the site is open to suggestions and so a couple of emails could change all that.
