Dutch experimental electronic group NiCad tours here this week and next.

Coming to Israel for five shows is Holland-based NiCad, an indie rock group featuring experimental electronic sounds. The group was formed in 2004 at the Royal Conservatory of Holland in The Hague, where all five members studied sonology (electronic music composition). The members hail from different countries - Japan, Israel, Chile, the US and Germany - and different musical backgrounds as well - classical, rock, jazz and experimental. The unique menagerie of influences is drawn upon to create a sound that is safe and straightforward as much as it borders on chaos. Having recently released their debut album Everyday I Grow, NiCad arrives in the midst of multiple shows in the Netherlands.
At their first show, NiCad will be joined by the local progressive rock group Eggroll at the Barby Kfar Saba (03-518-8123, 8 Yohanan Hasandler, NIS 60) on the Saturday night for a scheduled 10 p.m. start. Eggroll is also promoting its 2006 debut album, Fairytale. The quintet, founded while the members were all in high school, got its start as a progressive rock cover band, playing songs by King Crimson and Genesis. Having built a following, the group started writing and performing their own material, culminating in last year's release. Soon to be heading abroad on their first international tour, Eggroll is preparing with a number of domestic concert dates while also working on their second album.
NiCad will also be playing at Jerusalem's Yellow Submarine (02-679-4040) on Wednesday; at Tel Aviv's Levontin 7 (03-560-5084) on the Thursday and next Friday (May 25), and ending up at Beersheba's Baraka Club (08-628-7111) on May 26 before returning to Holland to continue their shows there.
