Exactly sixty years ago, in April 1964, the first Mustang was introduced and received a historic reception like no other in the automotive industry since then. Without online platforms, without the internet, it received 22,000 orders on its first day and the rest is history. But for small Israel, it took a long time, a lot of time, to arrive, at least irregularly and officially. In parallel and private import channels, it was a hit, and in the past it was imported for a short period in the mid-90s, by the previous importer. In recent years, Delta Motors promised that the auto will begin regular import.
But this opportunity to go to the dealership and order yourself a wild horse was about to close, as the Mustang is on its final line, the seventh and final generation of this all-American sports car.
The Mustang is much more than a carThe ultimate dream: A man purchased a Mustang for his 18-year-old son suffering from terminal cancer and even moved the Ford CEO.
In this generation presented in 2022 and entering production in May 2023, the Mustang is offered with two engines - a 2.3-liter EcoBoost with 4 cylinders and 315 horsepower and the real deal - a 5.0-liter V8 with 480 or 486 horsepower depending on the version (details below) - this is also the version that will arrive in Israel.
The engine is of course connected to the rear wheels through the gearbox with 10 transmission ratios. From the front, it has McPherson struts and a multi-link suspension with a stabilizing bar in the rear. For all versions, there is a limited-slip differential, while in the Nite Pony Plus and Over the Top, there is a shorter ratio. Other differences between these performance versions and the regular model include 4 exhaust outlets, thicker stabilizing bars, larger discs, Brembo brakes (6 pistons instead of 4 in the front, 4 in a single rear instead of one) and more.
In Ford, like with other American manufacturers, they do not specify acceleration data, however, MotorTrend magazine measured it at 4.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. In comparison, the Chevrolet Camaro SS accelerates to 100 mph in 4 seconds.
In terms of equipment at various trim levels, the base version called GT includes LED lighting, 19-inch wheels, keyless entry and start, leather upholstery for the electrically heated and ventilated seats. Split climate control, Android and Apple connectivity from the 13.2-inch multimedia screen and a 12.4-inch instrument panel. The Nite Pony changes the design of the wheels, black finish for the emblems, roof, side mirrors, and more. The Nite Pony Plus has additional performance and handling components mentioned and also includes the Over the Top version with Racing Stripe decals that increase the wheels to 20 inches.
Safety systems include pedestrian detection, lane departure correction, adaptive cruise control, off-road vehicle alert, speed camera detection, collision avoidance assistance and automatic braking, even in reverse driving.
Mustang prices start at NIS 425,000, putting it head-to-head with its historical competitor, the Chevrolet Camaro in the 6.2-liter SS version, priced at NIS 430,000. The price of the nine pack package will be NIS 440,000, for the nine pack plus you will pay NIS 475,000 and the over the top is already at NIS 485,000.
