MG is gearing up for the launch of a new generation of the EHS plug-in hybrid that has not been sold in our country since 2021. The images of the new model that the manufacturer attached to the design patent application, a process accepted in China to prevent copying, first reveal the new model, which will feature a more modern and contemporary design, with a new grille and more aerodynamic lines.

But the images also show a strong resemblance to the new Roewe eRX5 produced by MG's sister company, which belongs to the SAIC conglomerate from Shanghai. The Roewe version has been sold in China for a year, where it is common to produce several generations simultaneously for the same model. MG has a different front, but is expected to retain the same technical characteristics.

So, one can expect slightly larger dimensions: length of 4.65 meters (8+ cm), width of 1.89 meters (2+), height of 1.664 meters (unchanged), and a wheelbase of 2.765 meters (4+). The curb weight is expected to remain almost the same, at almost 1.84 tons.

The updated drive unit is expected to deliver 288 horsepower, an increase of 30 horsepower, and offer the same combination of a 1,500 cc gasoline engine and an electric motor. The electric driving range will increase beyond the current 52 kilometers, possibly up to 100 kilometers.

The RAV4 version is equipped with a wide touch screen that also serves as an instrument panel, in a Tesla-style. Hopefully, this version will not reach the MG version.

Lubinski, an MG importer, stated that it is unknown when the model will be launched and when it will arrive in the country.
