3 Dutch marines held hostage by Gaddafi loyalists

The Dutch Defense Ministry confirmed Thursday that Libyan forces loyal to leader Muammar Gaddafi had taken three Dutch marines hostage during their operation to evacuate two Dutch citizens from the city of Sirte, The Associated Press reported. The two citizens were released to Holland's embassy, and have since returned to the Netherlands. The marines, however, remain in captivity.
Dutch officials have entered "intensive negotiations" with Gaddafi's government in order to secure the marines' release.
